So the Masters draws to a close, and all golf fans know what that means…The BUAFCGS season is here! Some will dominate the Greens, some may Jacket in, but as the opening event approaches, the big question is; Whose year Willett be?
Never before in the entire 2 year history of this famous society has there been so much excitement leading in to the opening event of the season. New members, adjusted handicaps and a plethora of fancy new gear (and Sloth's Dunlop) ensure that the headlines will write themselves this Sunday at the Springs.
Timothy Kilpatrick finds himself under very close scrutiny as he looks to restore his TD reputation at the TK invitaional. Already under close scrutiny after repeated slow play during the 2015 season, many are suggesting that he will crumble under the pressure of simultaneously hosting an event and trying to drive the ball in a straight line at least once. It may well end up in reputation shattering disaster for the Moonface, leaving him sobbing in to the diamond encrusted pillow he purchased with the surplus £5000 from entrance fees.
With Tommy missing due to UTT reasons, there promises to be a pleasant atmosphere come Sunday. The tournament is wide open and many players will have their eye on glory. With a recent backtracking on the white tee ruling, shorter hitters find themselves back in contention for the title. Full TK supplied odds are given at the bottom of the page, but the early money has been heavily placed on the favourite, Jon Boy at 4/1. Rumours are circulating that this large backing has come from one T. Arnold as part of a continuing head games onslaught against Mr Hanson. Needless to say this reckless punter has backed every player in the tournament, as well as Ruffels, Katharine Hopson and Kian Siabi E/W.
So many stories are certain to be written on and around the fairways during the coming season. There will be laughs, tantrums, fantastic snacks courtesy of Clarky and Soft Chromes flying at all angles. As Nicholas Cage passionately stated in the golf classic 'The Wicker Man' - The only certainty in life is unpredictability, except for during the more predicatble stages of life which sometimes you can actually predict to an extent.
Wise words. Good luck one and all, may fortune favour the golfing brave.
