What can I say… what a year the 2017 Race to Holly Fry Season was!

As I stood upon the first tee at Milford Golf Club for the Easter PGA, never would I have imagined such a momentous year was ahead. To take home the illustrious green jacket, break the BUAFCGS course record, sink the society’s first ever ace, and ultimately become the 2017 Race to Holly Fry champion golfer of the year is certainly a series of achievements I will not take lightly.

It would be wrong of me to list these achievements without offering my thanks to those which made it enjoyable. In general, the entire society contributed to a great season. I believe it best not to dwell on the much-debated events of the May Masters, especially as I know how much Jay regrets his behaviour that day. As Match Referee, I hope I never have to witness #gimmegate again.

Special thanks must go to Nicholas Ince and James Felgate for their attitude and behaviour during #TK77. After the second birdie of the day at hole 5, we had a feeling something special was happening. Many other individuals (we know who) would have seen this as a perfect opportunity for head games but not these two great ambassadors for our game.

I would like to warn the society that despite such a stellar 2017, the TK train will not slow down. Instead, the aim is to break more records and to dominate the Race to Holly Fry in a way golf has not seen since Tiger Woods. Look out for #TK76, more long drive awards, and even stronger all black Adidas combos.

Many have talked about the possible Snake Slam of being the first to win every BUAFCGS event…I’ll let the golf do the talking.

Finally, I would like to commend the society on the great strides made in 2017. New members, more events, better courses and some great days for everyone. I’ve no doubt Big Popa Ewang will continue this success in to 2018.

I wish the society well for the winter period and look forward to teeing it up with those attending the New Year’s Knock.

Champion’s wishes

The Snake
