Sand Martins named as 2018 May Masters venue

Sand Martins Golf Club, Wokingham has been officially named as the host of the 2018 May BUAFCGS May Masters.

Opened in 1993, Sand Martins has been cleverly designed with two distinct and contrasting nine holes. The outward nine, set in parkland with lakes, water hazards and dog-leg holes is a perfect example of risk and reward golf, offering a challenge to golfers of all levels.

The back nine is truly unique among inland golf courses, with deep revetted bunkers and hazards lurking on every hole offering a great test of golf; where a par on the 13th will feel like a birdie and where Deception, the 15th hole with a ravine across the fairway, really does live up to its name!

This year’s May Masters will be hosted by the reigning May Masters and Race to Holly Fry Champion, Tim Kilpatrick.

“As an event in which I have had great success, it was a great honour to be selected as tournament host of this year’s May Masters. I would also like to thank key sponsors, Pepsi and Walkers Crisps, for their commitment this year.” said Kilpatrick.

“Having the opportunity to bring the tournament to a course which is not only exemplary, but a course in which I know every blade of grass is something which gives me great pleasure. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing heads explode as players tackle the formidable 16th and 17th, commonly known as ‘The Snake Pit’.”

Cost: £45 - to include some sort of meal on arrival, 18 holes of golf (If Jim Wee makes it that far) and

Post event activities: Exactly plans TBC but some sort of meal/drinks (not included within entry fee)
