Thoughts from the MP Champ

A few weeks after becoming MatchPlay Champ, it’s nice to reflect on what was an enjoyable journey through the rounds. Thanks to my opponents for making the effort to travel when it would have been difficult for me.
Some good rounds of golf, and some not so good rounds got me the wins required to reach the final and become MP champ. Fond memories remain of the play off hole against Tim, leaving him dumbfounded on how I could hit a draw off a downhill lie (no idea what it meant but it was a good shot).
The really good quality round of golf played with Gary a highlight, while I actually put together some good golf against Holmesy. The final was a close affair, and despite some Gamesmanship from the chairman, I managed to get over the line.
MatchPlay has a funny way of changing your game completely, and is a really challenging format so I’m very pleased to collect my first tour win and become this years MP Champ.
