Jacket Off - Defending Champ Loses Cool

It is mid-June. That means it is almost time for the Club Championships.
Points are on the board and the society superstars are under more pressure than Agent Fox’s potential home buyers. Some thrive under such circumstances. Some, on the other hand, crumble. Some, seemingly, like the Green Jacket holder himself.

Churcher won the hearts of the golfing world last year, exemplifying his ‘First or Last’ traditions with a glorious victory. A return to the scene had been thought to place him amongst the pre-tournament favourites. Things, though, are not always so simple. As US Women’s Soccer great Mia Hamm famously stated; ‘It is more difficult to stay on top than to get there.’ And it sure is showing. The Sussex villager is usually soothed by country life but now things seem to have got right on his Wick.
The Skittle King heads to Hampshire in dismal form. Two events have seen his accrue a measly 7.5 R2HF points. Hardly bowling over the opposition. He sits a 7-10 point split behind from Jay Way, a man who has only featured once this season. Dreams of green seem to be fading faster than a Mop drive. Whilst heroic comebacks are up his alley, Adam has little time to spare.
So what ARE the chances of a historic double? Well, the coming days will be key. Churcher is clearly rattled. The Whatsapp replies have been snappy, the brags infrequent, and one can only imagine the frosty reception currently handed to his beloved spaniel Poker. The failed delivery of his Garmin s40 - complete with soft silicone strap and hole view shot tracking – sent the Bearded Basher in to a spiral of rage that has left him with a Kucharesque reputation in the Twittersphere.

There is, though, still time.
Where there is time there is hope.
Where there is hope, there is glory.
And where there is glory, there is Royal Paultons Golf Centre. There is Magnolia Lane. There is the famous Championship Course with its history of miracles and power to create heroes even when all hope seems lost.
So write Churcher off at your peril. He isn’t the logical winner. He is, in anticipation of a meat-coma, currently shorter odds with SnakeSports to not even turn up on Sunday than to win. But in an era of Handicap hoo ha and Slithery dominace, make no mistake about it;
Churcher could again be seen in green.
