- Match Referee takes over from disgraced former Chairman, Adam Churcher

- Kilpatrick fought off competition from, well, nobody.

BUAFCGS has elected Tim 'Snake' Kilpatrick, a founding BUAFCGS member and most decorated player, as its new Chairman in a bid to restore the society's reputational damage overseen by his disgraced predecessor.

After initially taking over as Chair on an Interim basis, Kilpatrick was pleased to draw a line under previous mismanagement and look to the future. "I'm naturally very honoured to be the next Chairman of our Society" Kilpatrick said. "Whilst we can all agree the past twelve months have been difficult, I'm confident in my ability to steer the society (it's in gear you C**t!) to it's former glory, whilst bringing forward new ideas and positive change. I thank all members for their support."

Kilpatrick's appointment was one of a number of items raised during the 2022 AGM, which was attended by no fewer than seven BUAFCGS stalwarts. Items addressed include 2023 tournament dates, society roles and responsibilities, a more stringent membership criteria as well as general housekeeping. Perhaps the most interesting outcome, was the additional of a lucrative three-figure cash prize for the winner of the 2023 Race to Holly Fry Season. “We’ve heard from our members and the overwhelming sentiment was that they wanted more reward the R2HF season,” said Kilpatrick.

“We feel strongly we’ve this new financial incentive will create compelling drama as well as further incentive to participate at each and every event. "

The AGM finished with the below closing remarks from the new Chairman, reminding each member of their own responsibilities towards this society.

“It is every member’s responsibility to make this society work. I’ve no doubt that the society is the biggest reason why we have all stayed in touch and continue to have a very strong friendship group. If you don’t attend, you are letting everyone down – it’s not just about you. Therefore, when plucking up the courage to ‘ask’ for permission to play golf, consider that if everyone took the same approach – there will ultimately be no society. I hope we will see much stronger attendances this season and that the society can return to prosperous days – as I’m sure we will all feel the benefit.”
