BUAFC GOLF SOCIETY

PLAYERS

TIM KILPATRICK
JOINED: 2014
Known as the Society Snake, Tim’s rise to the top of the BUAFCGS tour has not been without controversy. A story of gross records and mythical matchplays, playing golf every day of the year has transitioned the once erratic also-ran to a venomous, glory-focused viper.
Possibly the most mocked society member, Tim needs another good year else Maddy will be tightening the golf purse strings and using the money for Belgravia consultation

LIAM HOPE
JOINED: 2014
Mr Chairman. One of the most illustrious members of the BUAFC Golf Society and a certain future hall of famer. This Dunlop sponsored hitter is renowned for his bold colour schemes and booming tee shots, with a couple of Long Drive trophy balls safely tucked in the cabinet alongside his 'Enfield Town greatest ever penalty taker' award.
A multiple event winner and former champion, Hopey will be targetting a single figure handicap in his next 5 year plan.

ADAM CHURCHER
JOINED: 2014
The Chernobyl of golf. Church’s etiquette is known to melt all in his vicinity. A strong man on the greens, Church often sees home a tough putt. Renowned for his bunker raking (or lack of) and trademark head tilt mid swing, Church is an exemplary society member. Just don't ask him whether a Driver is needed in advance of playing unknown courses and watch out if he's teeing off in the group behind

JAMIE WAY
JOINED: 2014
Jay Way is one of the biggest names in the society, always at the centre of the action. A former champion, he has the ability to shoot well on any course. His infamous temperament is much improved but he is still prone to the occasional #headsgone. His rivalry with Tommy will be a society highlight for years to come.

TOMMY ARNOLD
JOINED: 2014
The Society Professional.

DAN FOX
JOINED: 2014
The Self-Proclaimed ‘Horsham Bomber’ has had a somewhat underwhelming history on the BUAFCGS tour. Having invested most of his 112% conversion rate commission on expensive new equipment there will be few excuses if he continues to draw more than Tony Hart. Previous accusations had suggested Foxy was more style than substance on the course but these doubters are slowly being silenced after Fox finally won his first Long Drive accolade. With AimPoint precision putting on his side, surely it’s only a matter of time before Fox starts sweeping up the silverware?

GARY WILSON
JOINED: 2014
Ever seen a man balance a golf club on his chin whilst prowling the fairways? No? Then you’ve clearly never shared a course with Gary. A naturally smooth ball striker, Cromwell can shoot some serious fireworks when on form. Hampered by a recurring sleeping issue PC Wilson is yet to meet his full potential over the course of a whole season, but there is little doubt that he is a threat in each and every tournament he enters. Just don’t expect to see him organising one any time soon!

DAVID KENDALL
JOINED: 2014
Kendall made big strides in the early stages of the 2015 season and boasts the highest ever stableford score in a society event. This form tapered off somewhat towards the end of the year. His passion for golf is often questioned and despite some sneaky lessons, he is yet to hit the heights that many had predicted. That said, his scuttler style works wonders at Topgolf!

HARRY RUFFLES
JOINED: 2021
A scratch golfer with a smooth swing and a Strongbow in hand, Ruffles Aristides is as laid-back as they come. Often seen underdressed, wielding a half-set of ancient clubs and a towel big enough to camp under, he drifts through rounds with effortless charm. A master of understatement, his classic “brammer” signals a shot struck sweetly. Though his departure from university remains a topic of mystery, his etiquette remains flawless. His Bane impressions emerge only late at night. And don’t dare serve him sausages with condiments. Mysterious, casual, and genuinely talented—Ruffles is golf’s most unconventional cult classic.

DAN FOX (MOP)
Bandito Mop’s love/hate affair with golf has been a rollercoaster ride. Having seen his dubious handicap shredded throughout his title winning 2016 season, The fake fox had been known as an erratic and inconsistent player in previous years, highlighted by a dismal 12 point showing at the terrible Royal Wildwood course in 2015. Always able to spring a surprise (often in club selection), he has managed to snare a few closest to pin titles and is the undisputed king of the Club Champs Par 3 Challenge.

RICHARD SUTTON
JOINED: 2022
New to golf but with huge potential, Poth—also known as The Goose or occasionally The Pothy Pirate—is already making his mark. Formerly an estate agent and now a policeman, he’s the undisputed hardest man in the golf society. Partial to Archers, averse to chillis, and defined by a unique composition of one third man, potato, and goose, he approaches the game with grit and quiet intensity. With three sons at home, his availability is limited—but when he plays, he makes it count. Still early in his golf journey, there’s little doubt: Poth is built for big things.

MIKEY EWANG
JOINED: 2014
If Ewang’s swing is as smooth as his dancefloor moves he will be playing off scratch before the end of the season. Still in the early stages of his career, he showed a commendable mentality during pre-season events, something that will stand him in good stead as his game continues to develop. Mikey is sure to handle his induction Chilli K combo like a true pro.

DANNY POTTS
JOINED: 2023
With Ghost Writer

JON HANSON
JOINED: 2014
Jon is undoubtedly the most technically skilled golfer in the society, but there are certainly doubts over his mental strength after the 2015 match-play final. Now a fully-fledged BUAFC member, Jon made great early strides before somewhat disappearing off the face of the planet. Luckily, Jon can always be located via his Mrs Instagram feed and we hope he’ll be allowed to re-join the tour very soon. #SaveJon

ROB GILL
JOINED: 2020
Rob, once a fixture in the society, is no longer seen on the course. A meticulous golfer with an iron-clad pre-shot routine, he was known for his dubious handicap, winning a number of events under questionable circumstances. An insurance seller who didn’t quite pass the fit and proper persons test, Rob’s commitment to detail extended to his clubs—most notably, his iron covers, which became a symbol of his personality. Though no longer part of the society, Rob’s legacy remains shrouded in mystery and intrigue. A man of precision, but with a questionable past.

TOM CLARK
JOINED: 2015
The dream group member. Every BUAFCer will watch Jay Way’s draw video with baited breath, praying to be drawn alongside Mr Snacks. Clarkey has become somewhat of a cult hero for golf lovers due to his positive nature, impressive iron play and truly magnificent putting. Years from now, BUAFC grandchildren will tell stories of ‘the putt’ and regale joyously about how the Happy Hornet managed to roll a tiddler all of 30 yards wide. Cricket issues may hamper any title bids but everyone’s favourite Tommy will have fun out there regardless.

JOHNNY MULHERN
JOINED: 2018
Johnny, a 2018 graduate, quickly put a cat amongst the society pigeons with his colossal bombs from the tee. A golfer with experience on his side, Mr Mulhern demonstrated his strong mentality by refusing to quit BUAFC golf after #boundarylakesgate. Only held back by an occasionally errant driver, expect Johnny to challenge if he can get his fancy new clubs working for him
NATHAN GREEN
JOINED: 2018
The societies resident architect is more prone to handling a protractor than an iron, but whilst he can methodocally dissect every component of his game, its consistency that he needs to find to get amongst the silveware.
When he is not managing his cryptocurrency fortunes he can be found on the golf hills of Sussex...just look for the smoke signals!

STEVE DENYER
JOINED: 2018
The oldest society member and booby prize specialist. Steve can take a few holes to warm up the joints, but when in his stride the punchy three quarter swing can produce some consistent scores. Yet to find his form he will need to manage his UTT in future seasons to spend more time practicing and less time on the house chores!

JAY GILBERT
JOINED: 2015
The lesser spotted Gilbert adds a touch of rhythm to the society. Equally adept spinning disks as he is attacking greens, Jay has become a fan favourite with his laid back attitude and skilled shot making. Attendance troubles suggest he would be a long shot to challenge for future titles but could certainly upset the odds and steal an individual event crown. If he can Guetta good start fellow competitors shouldn’t un-Tiesto-mate and his scores could certainly Diplo.

ALLY HARRIS
JOINED: 2016
Ally ‘Lumpy’ Harris may be a newcomer to the society, but he is already heavily tipped to become a future star. Yet to make his debut in the Majors, his scores in minor tournaments have made the veterans stand up and take note. Sure to be well decked out in fine threads with expensive clubs, he is one to watch, now he has a car with enough room for clubs, RIP 'batmobile'

JAMES FELGATE
JOINED: 2017
One of the newest society members, having joined in the winter of 2017 we are yet to see if Felgate can transfer his moves from the dance-floor to the green, but from early outings its certain there is a lot of potential.

RICHARD POTTS
JOINED: 2016
This society work in progress lives by one motto; Live Fast & Golf Slow. Blessed with a physique that makes Ewang look like a 2007 Jay Siva, Pottsy has some serious power to utilise if he can develop his ball striking. Until then he will continue his mission to visit every bunker in Britain. Potter dwarves his playing partners on the course and destroys any chance of female attention at those courses foolish enough to allow them to play. All BUAFCers would embrace his continued progress in 2017, except perhaps Tim who is yet to recover mentally from the first time he saw the topknot.

DANNY HOLMES
JOINED: 2017
There is no doubt which BUAFCer has the psychological edge when it comes to the crunch. Holmesy’s unrivalled mental strength should establish him as a front runner for titles in the coming years. Hardened from battling the freezing temperatures of the North, Danny Danny is an emerging threat with a developing all round game. Likely to be seen arriving to the course on a JCB, Nizlopi blaring at full blast, there is no doubt that Holmer is one of golf’s best Folk and a true Gentleman of the Road.
NICK INCE
JOINED: 2016
Massive Tits! Incey has many passions in life; Brunel's SU, Charlie Lee and mainly Massive Mammories to name but a few. As of yet though golf is still to infiltrate these top priorities. A fan favourite around the golfing community, you know his group is approaching when you hear chants of 'Stuart Pearce haircut, Gareth Southgate nose' eminating from the gallery around the 18th green. Nick already has the honour of the fastest pint in BUAFC and will regale you with stories of his double Club of the Year titles. Is it now time for him to add a society win to his roll of honour? Jueesh!

JEY SILVA
JOINED: 2015
Jey Siva is an exciting addition to the BUAFC family. Possibly the first ever Sri Lankan golfer, fans of the society are looking forward to seeing his development during this season and beyond. Jey is already a record holder (lowest ever Stableford score) and will be aiming for further landmarks in his career. Sure to be a crowd pleaser for many years to come. Just don’t offer him a Scotch Bonnet on the tee!
